Save, export and share your beat: WAV, MP3, video and project files

Updated · 5 min read

EASY RAVE saves your work in your browser automatically, and SAVE (or Ctrl+S) keeps a named copy on this computer. A free account adds online saving. To get your music out, RECORD LIVE PERFORMANCE and RECORD LOOP make WAV or MP3 files, RECORD VIDEO films the rack with sound, and EXPORT PROJECT saves everything as one HTML file that plays in any browser, even offline.

How does EASY RAVE save your work?

There are 3 layers, from automatic to permanent:

HowWhere it goesWhen to use it
AutosaveYour browser, on this computerAlways on: your work survives a refresh or a closed tab
SAVE (Ctrl + S)A named song in your browser, on this computerWhenever you want a version you can go back to
Online saveYour free EASY RAVE accountTo open your songs on another computer

Autosave writes the whole rack to your browser every few seconds and whenever you switch tabs. SAVE gives the song a name and keeps it in your list of songs on this device; Ctrl + Shift + S keeps a copy under a new name.

Browser storage belongs to one browser on one computer. If you clear your browsing data, or open EASY RAVE in a different browser, those songs are not there. For anything you care about, also export a project file or save it online.

How do you save songs online?

Click the person icon at the top right and sign in with Google or with an email address. Accounts are free. Once you are signed in, the account panel lets you save the current song online and open your saved songs on any computer.

You never need an account to make music, record audio or export a project. It only adds the online copy.

How do you export a WAV or MP3?

Before you record, balance the parts: how to mix a beat takes you through it in 7 steps.

Click the red record circle next to play. The RECORD menu has 3 options:

  • RECORD LIVE PERFORMANCE records everything you play, from the moment you start until you stop: section changes, mutes, live effects, knob moves. It asks WAV or MP3 first. Use it to capture a whole track or a jam.
  • RECORD LOOP records an exact number of bars (set it with − and +) as WAV or MP3. Use it to get a clean loop for a DAW, a video or a sample pack.
  • RECORD VIDEO films the rack (see below).

WAV is lossless and best if you will edit the audio further. MP3 is smaller and easier to send. The MP3 encoder downloads the first time you use it, so MP3 needs an internet connection once. The PROJECT menu's EXPORT AUDIO (WAV / MP3) opens this same menu.

How do you record a video of your beat?

RECORD VIDEO films the rack with the sound, ready for YouTube, TikTok or Instagram. Before you start you choose:

SettingOptions
ShapeHorizontal video (16:9) for YouTube, or Vertical video (9:16) for phones and Reels
FramingWhole screen keeps the rack in view; Follow cursor is a close-up that glides to whatever you are playing
WebcamNo webcam, or a round webcam bubble bottom left, bottom right or top right
MicrophoneNo microphone, or record your voice on top of the music

Press START RECORDING and pick "This tab" when the browser asks what to share. Play your track, then press the video record button again (it shows STOP while filming) to finish. The video downloads as an MP4 where the browser supports it, otherwise as WebM. If you record your microphone, wear headphones, or the mic will also pick up the speakers.

What is an EASY RAVE project file?

EXPORT PROJECT in the PROJECT menu saves the whole song as a single HTML file: every machine, pattern and setting, your samples, and the LinnBeats drum kit. Double-click it and it opens in any browser and plays your track, even with no internet connection.

When you open the file, it asks whether to OPEN ON EASYRAVE.COM, which loads the song into the site so you can keep working, or to PLAY OFFLINE HERE. To load a project back later, use IMPORT PROJECT in the same menu.

A project file is the safest backup: it does not depend on your browser storage or an account, and you can send it to a friend.

How do you share your beat?

  • To listen: send the WAV or MP3, or post the video.
  • To collaborate: send the project file. Your friend opens it, chooses OPEN ON EASYRAVE.COM, and gets your exact rack, ready to change.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to save my beats?

No. EASY RAVE saves your work in your browser automatically, SAVE keeps named songs on your computer, and EXPORT PROJECT makes a file you can keep anywhere. A free account only adds online saving, so you can open songs on another computer.

Can I export my beat as an MP3?

Yes. Click the red record circle, choose RECORD LIVE PERFORMANCE or RECORD LOOP, and pick MP3. The MP3 encoder needs an internet connection the first time; WAV works offline.

Can I record my screen and audio together?

Yes. RECORD VIDEO films the EASY RAVE tab with its sound, in horizontal or vertical format, with an optional webcam bubble and microphone. Choose "This tab" when the browser asks what to share.
